Attendance Boundaries 2025-2026

Message from the Director regarding School Boundaries June 27, 2025

Dear Caregivers: Regina Public Schools continues to see enrolment growth at most of its schools.

With a student population increasing to more than 27,000, the school division is working to ensure that every one of our schools can provide equitable and successful student experiences. As a result, a change has been made to Administrative Procedure 310 School Attendance Boundaries. To more effectively manage enrolment growth, effective September 2025, every Regina Public elementary and high school will be assigned a level based on a number of factors such as physical space and teacher to student ratios. Potential enrolment of students residing outside of a school’s boundary area will be determined by these levels:

• Level 1: School has capacity. Open boundaries – school will accept students from both within and outside of the attendance boundary.

• Level 2: School, or certain grades/programs nearing capacity. Students from within attendance boundaries are accepted. Students from outside the attendance boundaries may only be accepted in certain grades, courses, or programs.

• Level 3: School is at capacity. Only students from within the school’s attendance boundary will be accepted. Information about which level a school is at can be found in the Attendance Boundaries section of the Regina Public Schools website: reginapublicschools.ca/attendance boundaries.

Regina Public Schools believes that student learning needs are well supported in neighbourhood schools. Under certain limited circumstances, however, the assigned neighbourhood school may not always meet the needs of students and/or families. For this reason, students, families, and caregivers may apply to attend schools other than their neighbourhood school. Students who have been accepted to an out-of-area elementary school prior to the 2025-26 school year will be permitted to attend the high school assigned to the elementary school and an exemption process will not be required. Students who are accepted to an out-of-area elementary school following the start of the 2025-26 school year will not be automatically granted access to the high school that the elementary school is assigned to.

Regina Public Schools’ Academy Programs have open registration and are not limited by attendance boundaries. Academy Programs include: Martin Academy, Martin Junior Academy, Balfour Arts Collective, F.W. Johnson STEAM Academy, and Scott Police Academy. Further details relating to Regina Public Schools’ attendance boundaries can also be found on the website in Administrative Procedure 310 School Attendance Boundaries

Yours in Education,
